Open mic after the workshop

The Oregon Pipers Society is pleased to announce some additional amazing performers this month.  In lieu of our usual competition before the evening's featured acts, we are opening up the OPS Presents stage to an open mic of celtic and bluegrass players.  Bring your instrument and come ready to play, whether that is strings, smallpipes, or something else, there will be room on stage for all.

Open mic starts at 4:30 and anyone wanting to perform or learn is welcome to join in. Come to play, learn or just stomp your feet to some superb celtic and bluegrass music.  The bar opens at 5 pm and the kitchen will be serving up hot and delicious dinners starting at 6 o'clock.

Starting at 6:30 the fantastic celtic trio Dram and Go will play a set for us as well.  We are pleased to have Dram and Go back to OPS this year, and you can read more about them and check out some tunes from their 2015 album.

Founded early in 2014, Dram & Go features a fresh take on traditional Celtic music. With piper Micah Babinski (lowland pipes, smallpipes, mandolin), Rachel Bowen (fiddle), and Avery LeVine (guitar, bouzouki, Irish flute, whistles), Dram & Go has been busy harnessing the raw foot-stomping energy found at the intersection of Scottish piping, old-time fiddle, Irish Sessions, and bluegrass.

It's a great way to unwind after a brilliant day at the OPS workshop!  Its not too late to sign up for the Piping & Drumming Workshop, and you can even walk in the day of if you forgot to mail in your registration.

See you at OPS!
